President & Chief Executive Officer
Scott Verlander is President and CEO of The Claxton Bank. He has more than 20 years of experience in the banking and financial services industries. Prior to joining The Claxton Bank in 2023, Scott was Senior Vice President, Head of Retail and Affiliate Banking for EverBank in Jacksonville, Florida. During his tenure at EverBank, he also served in corporate development and investor relations leadership roles. Prior to joining EverBank in 2011, Scott spent 9 years researching and investing in banks after beginning his career in investment banking. Scott received a B.A. from Southern Methodist University, an M.B.A. from Georgia Institute of Technology and is a CFA charterholder.
EVP, Georgia Banking President
Philip Williams currently serves as EVP & Georgia Banking President. Born and raised in Southeast Georgia, he loves being a community banker. “People around here are special. They have big dreams and powerful determination. This job lets us learn all about what people want in life and then help them get there. I wouldn’t trade it.” Philip holds a BA from Georgia Southern University and attended Georgia Banking School at the University of Georgia. His career in banking spans more than twenty-seven years with a wide range of experience in commercial lending, management, compliance, human resources, and operations.
SVP / Sr. Lending Officer
Jamey began his banking career in 1997 and has been with The Claxton Bank since 2007, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President and Senior Lending Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Georgia Southern University and is a graduate from Georgia Bankers School at the University of Georgia. Along with lending, Jamey oversees the credit and policy functions of the bank.
SVP / Chief Financial Officer
Val began her banking career in 1992 and has been with The Claxton Bank since 2013, where she currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University (BBA) and is a graduate of the Georgia Banking School at the University of Georgia. Along with the accounting responsibilities, Val oversees Internal Audit, Compliance, and Loan Operations. Val and her husband, Steve, reside in Reidsville.
Vice President Retail Banking
Tammy has been in the banking/financial industry for 30 years. Most of which have been in branch/retail operations. During her career Tammy has worked in deposit operations, loan operations, teller line and customer service.
VP / Operations & Technology
Troy Poulin graduated from the University of Georgia in 2013 with a BBA in Banking and Finance and is currently attending the Georgia Banking School at the University of Georgia. He joined The Claxton Bank team in 2015 where he currently serves as the VP of Operations & Technology, and oversees deposit operations, cybersecurity and IT, and the marketing functions of the bank.
VP, Corporate Development and FP&A
Allen Miller currently serves as Vice President, Corporate Development and FP&A of The Claxton Bank. Allen most recently served as Head of Investor Relations at Vroom, Inc., an innovative, end-to-end ecommerce platform designed to buy and a to sell used automobiles. Before that, he served as a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis with the firm. Prior to joining Vroom, he was an Analyst in UBS Investment Bank’s Financial Institutions Group, with a primary focus serving commercial banking clients. Allen received bachelor’s degrees in Economics and in Human & Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University.
